Joe Harrow has over 30 years of experience in the banking and insurance industries. He began his career as a private bank lending officer at SunTrust Bank in Williamsburg, VA, where he as lived since 1987. In 1994, he began his insurance career when he joined the "family business" and became the President of Middle Peninsula Insurance Agency. Since then, the agency has grown from a small office in the country with a few employees servicing the local community to a company with three locations and over 20 employees servicing the entire state and beyond.
Joe has also been very active in the Williamsburg community and the insurance industry for several years. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of EVB Bank and the Board of the Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia.
He is a past chairman of the Williamsburg Land Conservancy and Hospice Support Care of Williamsburg, and served on the James City County Educational Foundation. He is the past chairman and served on agent council boards of several insurance companies, including Selective Insurance Company, Northern Neck Insurance Company and Donegal Insurance Company.
Joe is an active speaker in the insurance industry focusing on ethics in business and growing your business the right way. Of special note, Joe spoke at the Annual Investor Conference for Selective Insurance Company in 2006 on why Selective is a valued contract to have for an independent agency.
In addition, Joe is a 1986 graduate of Randolph Macon College. Joe's hobbies include gardening, golfing, running, reading and many other outdoor activities. Joe and his wife have 5 children -- they are now empty nesters and enjoy traveling to visit their children and experiencing new places, too.
Steve RiceChief Operating Officer
Steve has been in the insurance industry for over 25 years working for both a national insurance carrier and an international broker. He has lived in Williamsburg since 2007 and joined Middle Peninsula in 2011 as Senior Vice President responsible for managing MPIA's sales department, as well as their personal and commercial property/casualty divisions.
Steve has been very active in the community as well as the insurance industry. He currently coaches several Williamsburg youth sports teams and is a member of the Rotary Club of the Historic Triangle. He is a past director of the Professional Insurance Wholesale Association of NY, past director of the Glens Falls YMCA and a past member of the City of Glens Falls Planning Board, Planning Board of Appeals and Ethics Committee. He is also a past Chairman of the Glens Falls Republican Committee.
Steve earned his BS degree from Siena College and his MBA from Syracuse University. He lives in Williamsburg with his wife Robin and four children; Sarah, Sam, Spencer and Emma.
Matt Slye, CICVice President of Sales
Matt joined Middle Peninsula Insurance and Financial Services in January of 2008. Prior to joining MPIA he began his insurance career with Nationwide Insurance where he worked for three years. Matt was the 2013 Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia Young Agent of the Year. Matt has also been selected as a 2011-2016 Home and Auto Insurance Professional Award Winner by Coastal Virginia Magazine. He is a Certified Insurance Counselor.
Matt was raised in the Williamsburg area and is a graduate of Lafayette High School. He is a 2004 graduate of UNC-Greensboro. He and his wife, Jackie, reside in Williamsburg with their son, Drake. Matt is a member of the Historic Virginia Land Conservancy Board and the Williamsburg Jaycees. He is also a 2011 graduate of the Leadership Historic Triangle class, a program which provides the foundation necessary to develop effective leaders within the community. When not working with his clients, Matt enjoys many outdoor activities including boating and auto racing.
Hope HarrellDirector of Account Management
Hope joined Middle Peninsula in June 2010 as a Commercial Lines Account Manager. New to the insurance industry, she was highly motivated, adapted quickly and progressed to managing middle to large-sized accounts. Most recently she was promoted to Director of Account Management for both Personal and Commercial Lines Departments.
Prior to joining the agency, Hope worked for a custom home builder as their Office Manager and Client Liaison.
After graduating high school Hope served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Since beginning her insurance career she has earned the designation of Certified Builders Insurance Agent from Builder's Mutual Insurance Company. She is currently working on her Accredited Customer Service Representative designation.
Fletch DildayInsurance Producer
Fletch joined the Middle Peninsula Insurance team in August 2017. Prior to Middle Peninsula, Fletch owned Auto Parts and Supply, which was purchased by a national auto parts retailer. He worked as an Allstate Insurance agent for 14 years and felt that a move to the independent side of insurance is key for building relationships and providing choices for clients.
An alumnus of NC State, he grew up in Chesterfield, Va. and has lived in Williamsburg since 1991. Fletch and his wife, Kim, have two kids. He coaches Williamsburg Youth Baseball League and has taught in the Children’s Ministry at Williamsburg Community Chapel since 2004. In his free time, he enjoys golf, tennis, riding bikes with the family, skiing, going to the beach, and watching his daughter do ballet and his son play baseball.
Kim TaheyPersonal Lines Producer
Kim worked in the mortgage industry for 15 years before joining Middle Peninsula Insurance Financial Services, Inc. as Personal Lines Producer in 2012. She has lived in Williamsburg since 1992, where she began her career at Pepsi as a Market Development Representative for the Military.
Kim is the past chair for the Williamsburg Montessori School and past board member for the Williamsburg Kiwanis Club and Walsingham Academy Parent Board. She has never been a featured speaker anywhere except at home and no one pays any attention to her!
Kim has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 1981 and her Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Investments from George Washington University. She lives in Ford's Colony with her husband, Phil, and her two sons, Matthew and Patrick. When not assisting clients, Kim enjoys scrapbooking, exercising and wine tasting (though not necessarily in that order).
Jennifer JenkinsPersonal Lines Sr. Account Manager
Jennifer has been with Middle Peninsula Insurance since 2002. She has been a licensed insurance professional since 1985. Jennifer resides in Gloucester County and enjoys traveling with family and friends. She also enjoys volunteer work in her spare time.
Terry WhitakerPersonal Lines Account Manager
Terry worked in the Sales & Marketing industry for over 15 years before joining Middle Peninsula Insurance as a Personal Lines Account Manager in 2014. She has lived in Williamsburg since 2001 but originally hails from Deep River, Connecticut.
Terry graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and an Associate of Science degree in Marketing.
She served on the Williamsburg Montessori School Marketing Committee and was an active member of the Junior League of Hampton Roads from 2004 – 2012, and earned her Sustainer status in 2013.
Terry lives in Fords Colony with her husband, Brent and their two sons, Price and Ashton. She can often be found at the baseball field cheering for her sons’ teams! In her free time (ha), Terry enjoys volunteering, going to the beach, walking, traveling, baking her signature sugar cookies, spending time with family & friends, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox!
Kim ReissAdministrative Assistant
Kim joined Middle Peninsula in July of 2010. She has 10 years experience as an administrative assistant. Kim is a native of Virginia and resides in Gloucester County. Kim and her husband Adam have 3 children. She loves going fishing and spending time with their family and friends.
Traci FitzpatrickAccounting Assistant
Traci joined the Middle Peninsula team in September of 2016. She and her family moved to Virginia in 2006 because her husband received orders here as an officer in the U.S. Navy. Several years later when her husband retired from the Navy, they decided to make Williamsburg their permanent home, as they had grown to love it here.
Traci's career experience comes from being a buyer of cosmetics and fragrances for a major department store chain in Florida and then as a territory sales rep for a popular shoe brand.
As natives of Florida, Traci and her family still love to go there every summer to visit their family’s home in The Lower Keys where they enjoy deep sea fishing, snorkeling and living the Keys life. She also enjoys volunteering and being involved at her daughter's school and dance studio, as well as gardening and cooking.
